In this thread: viewtopic.php?f=40&t=1933 there was a link to this site: http://www.bbq-sauce-recipes.com/the-ba ... sauce.html

I've just made the basic tomato-based BBQ sauce from the site & it is delicious. I added a clove of garlic & a few grinds of sea salt to the ingredients & I think it'll make a great relish / bbq sauce for the burgers I am planning on cooking on Sunday for some friends.

It is quite sweet & tangy, so it'll be great for the children coming at the weekend & my sweet tooth, but I think I'll experiment with this as a base by:

- reducing the brown sugar to half for some recipes;
- adding some key flavours - maybe some whiskey or nuts or some oriental spice for pork;
- adding some chilli heat for chicken wings / legs....

Definitely worth the half hour prep & cooking though.

Thanks - yep will try that - I do like five spice.

My wife has done an Indian cookery course, so am going to get her to mix some mild curry mixes as well to try with a leg of lamb at some point too.
