Hello from Heathrow!!!

Postby Heathrow_BBQ » 25 Sep 2013, 19:58

Hi guys

Just thought id say hello from Heathrow, West London!

I love BBQ but have only ever stuck to simple things like chicken legs and thighs, sausages lamb kebabs

I have only ever had off the shelf BBQ's but intend to build some kind of smoker.

I like low effort recipes and believe in maximum flavour for the minimum effort

Welcome, do you work at LHR or just put up with the noise locally? If the former you must be able to get hold of an old drum to convert to a UDS, for which there are dozend of topics, posts and helpers on here and is a relatively cheap entry into low and slow cooking and smoking. :D
Have fun.

Hi thanks for the warm welcome guys!

At the moment I have a simple griller type bbq, pic below. It has served my well over the years but it uses lots of fuel and requires constant attention

I also had a cheapo barrel style bbq which I was hopefully would allow me to cook food with more control and flexibility but it was super leaky with the lid closed and the metal was wafer thin so I didn't want to spend any money improving it. I am since given this one away

I have never had a weber kettle style bbq so I might get one of those next. Its a toss up between that and making a UDS.

I want to move from cooking smaller things like chicken pieces/kebaba to whole chickens/lamb leg/pork shoulder
