Newbie in Bridgend South Wales

Postby Greig » 18 Apr 2014, 07:00

Hi all,
My name is Greig and although a Scot by birth I have been happily living the dream in South Wales for the last 30 years. I've been a keen barbecuer for all of that time and have recently started experimenting with slow cooking and smoking. I currently use a Weber 57cm kettle which has produced some fantastic results so far on pork butts, chicken and lamb. I am thinking of purchasing my first smoker and would appreciate any comments on the Brinkmann smoke and grill. Is this a logical step up from the kettle or just a different way of doing the same thing? Any help, tips and guidance greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Greig

Welcome. I wouldn't bother with the Brinkman and stick with the brand that you are already using. The WSM or even go with the Pro-Q are going to be a much better investment. There are a bunch of UDS advocates on here and I have been tempted myself. Better to buy right the first time.

There are also a bunch of MODs for the the Webber grills so that you can smoke easily on them as well.

I got given a smoke n grill for free and it is awful. No air control so no heat control. Basically good for lighting a chimney and thats about it.
