I'm embarking on a UDS build and have been given adrum by a friend. The outer surface is galvanised steel but the inner is fairly rusty so would that likely be just steel? I am looking to have it shot-blasted. Thanks for any opinions.

If there is any chance the inside is galvanised I'd stay well clear. If you don't know where it's come from it should be a concern as you never know what nasties have been stored in it. Sorry to rain on your fire but better safe than sorry.

That was my concern, it was used as a water butt so there could be a good chance it is galvanised inside too, I do have the option of swapping it with a defo steel drum. thanks for the reply
