New pro q frontier owner

Hi everyone.

Have managed to persuade my wife to get me the frontier elite for christmas.

Am excited about cooking some ribs, brisket and buffalo wings smoking. (Cannot find any decent buffallo wings to cook anywhere though)

Does anyone have any tips or advice for a new smoker.

Also looking for some advice about what charcoal...brisket or beads to use.

Any help is much appreciated

Hello, welcome and congrats on the new Q. Buffalo wings are hard to get in the UK, some good butchers will be able to order them in for you if you ask. Fuel is a little more difficult to get hold of this time of the year and limited to ordering online or if you have access you can get restaurant lump from Bookers. Personally I use BigK restaurant charcoal, link below, the ACH15 and RCH12 is good quality fuel, you just have to order a few bags to make it worthwhile, I order in bulk

They also sell briquettes which are quite good but not currently on their website.

You can normally pick up HeatBeads in B&Q during the summer and on some places online, a lot of people recommend them for use in bullet style smokers, personally for me they didn't live up to the hype, I would use the FuelExpress briquettes found on most garage forecourts, make sure you don't by the instant lighting version if you are using the Minion or Snake method

Thanks very much for this. This may sound like a daft question...but how hard is it smoking in the cold..we are looking at doing our first cook for new years eve or new years day

How you getting on with the ProQ? I love my Frontier but am now looking to upsize to an Excel.
