Hello from Bedfordshire...

Postby RedborneFarm » 25 Mar 2012, 21:16

I run a school farm in Ampthill, we produce our own rare breed pork, lambs, chickens and turkeys. We are slowly involving the students and ourselves in producing more of our own artisan products. We have cured our own bacon made our own sausages and regularly BBQ them and sell them at lunch. We also have our own full size gas hog roaster and recently built our own cold smoker. We have a blog http://redbornefarm.blogspot.com which shows our smoker, our guide to butchering a pig and plenty of other things we get up to,

Just had a look at the blogspot, loved the article on butchering your pig, don't suppose you have far to go to get scrummy babybacks
If I can I'll try and get there for the charity hog roast

Thanks for the support, the hog roast has had to move dates and is really for the kids but we will be doing some at weekends as their is a car boot sale and at the moment they just have a scabby burger van so we'll cook up some proper grub. If your after really good pork thats a bit closer to you perhaps you could vheck out a friend of mine does some great rare breed pork closer to you, at Stotfold. They have a link on our blog (Cardona and Son) really good stuff his name is Andre.
