Yes the meat in Fields is ridiculously overpriced, a leg of lamb I usually pick up on offer in the supermarkets for less than a tenner goes for about £40 there. It's the place to be seen buying your meat though it seems. The sausage rolls are good though, just like Fletchers used to which isn't surprising considering it's the same baker according to the van driver. Those vanilla slices are massive, about the best value thing they do.
Unfortunately pretty much all the butchers I've visited in Hull buy their meat in vac packed. If you find any bbq worthy brisket in the area let me know, everywhere I've seen sells the rolled and trimmed stuff, it even comes vac packed in long lengths like that.
Never had a problem with pork shoulder in the supermarket, cooked right it's always done the job.
