Well the food taster and I made a trip to Brighton, sadly there was no Brisket as the butcher hadn't delivered any. The pub is what you would expect for a local "boozer" and the lad behind the bar was very polite and attentive. Unable to sample the brisket we ordered the Pulled Pork sarnie and the Chicken & Ribs combo for us both to share. The Pulled Pork was very tasty and quite a good portion, topped with a home made slaw giving a good contrast of texture and taste. The chicken was the moistestest (and if that isn't a proper word it SHOULD BE) that I've had in any restaurant, regardless of stars!!! The Hickory & Apple sauce was plentiful and delicious. The rib portion was a fair size and certainly lived up to our hopes. The meat pulled clean off the bones with a gentle tug, and took very little chewing. I'm not a fan of "slurpy ribs" and what I mean by that is I feel you should have to slightly chew the meat (which releases delightful juices across the palate) rather than just "suck" it off the bones. A mistake I made when I last did my own ribs.
In one respect I’m glad we don’t live too close to Brighton, we are in Hertfordshire, as we would probably have it as a local and be eating there weekly if not daily, rather than a treat which it definitively was. We will be back, and I’ve looked at elastically waisted trousers ready for that day

Sorry if this seems a bit of a wordy ramble but that's me.
