Hi guys and girls, my name is Dan and i'm a meathead, and i feel lucky that i have stumbled on this cracking little forum as most of the BBQ web sites i have come accross are American, anyway i've been into BBQ's for a while but only on the traditional grilling side and i'm really keen on getting into the smoking side of things. Although we are heading out of season there is still a chance to get things going (especially with Halloween aroudn the corner), so any tips and ideas, recipes will be greatfully welcome and will look forward to getting to know you all a little more. welcome BFD - this is a great place, with all the info you'll need to start enjoying some fab low 'n' slow meats! :D

We started with a PRO Q Excel last Sept last year and had Halloween and also Firework night BBQ's which were loved by all that attended! The 2 biggest issues we've found are the cuts and quality of meat available in this country can sometimes be beyond shocking :evil: - and also the availabilty of charcoal this time of year can prove a little more challenging than those summer months!

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice guys. I think i'm going to start with a Weber, nice price and can use both techniques and if i really get into it i will upgrade.

What recipe would be a good starting point in your opinions?

My father-in-law has a very small smoker, he smokes pigeon and pheasant, i might have a blast with that.

Welcome Dan. You will (almost) never go back to traditional grilling after you have tried and sampled low n' slow. :D

Welcome to the forum. I only joined/delurked myself this year, and the welcome afforded me and the advice given has all been good.

Nice to see someone on the forum from Maidstone - was born, raised and schooled there before departing for university and then paid work. Still have family there and get back as often as possible. Which isn't as often as it should be...

Hi Dan Welcome.

Yes it is great to see someone on here from Maidstone. There are also a couple of us (at least) on here from Ashford too. Hope you enjoy the forum
