New to smoking and just purchased a 47cm wsm, looking forward to having a go. Live near coventry, lots to learn looking through the forum.

Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy it. I've only really just started too. Been reading up for ages but only just built a UDS. Did my first cook last night. :)

got day off tomorrow so sent missus to butchers today to get pork shoulder, gonna try that first. she also picked up short ribs, gonna save them. Will put up photos

weather crap been hammering it down all day so far. Cant get wsm to sit above 200f, not sure what doing wrong, used the minion method and put another chimney stack on to increase temp. it did for a while then died down to about 200f. will get some heat beads and try them next time i think.

If it is windy that can play havoc with your temperatures. Try cracking the lid of the WSM very slightly ie as if the lid isn't sitting properly on and there is a small gap to allow a bit of air in.

hi Robin, thanks for that. before i read your message i repositioned it slightly behind shed and it has gone up in temp a bit. meat at 70c internally now so looking good.
