Hello fellow BBQ'ers

Hello all,

I just moved to the UK from the States and was hoping to get some info while waiting for my smoker to arrive. I have a Yoder Cheyenne and was hoping to find some split logs around the Bicester area. Does anyone know of a farm or supply store that sells Oak, Apple or Cherry wood? Also, a place that sells lump charcoal would also be helpful. Just trying to avoid the high shipping prices on orders thru the internet. Oh and last question....where does everyone buy their meats from? The local butcher? Or will the local supermarkets have brisket, baby backs and pork shoulder readily available. Thanks in advance for the responses and look forward to chatting with everyone about BBQ on this site.

Tom

Welcome Tom
Sounds like we'll be able to learn a few things from you :D
You won't get a full Packer Brisket or rack of ribs at many supermarkets here. Developing a relationship with your local butcher is probably best. You can get some good stuff online at http://www.turnerandgeorge.co.uk/packer ... isket.html. The link takes you to their full packer wich looks good...not tried it myself as I tend to use my butcher.
Good luck with the wood. I am not local to Bicester but there are plenty of wood suppliers doing split logs so I'm sure you'll get sorted.
A lot of links on here about best lumpwood to use and this is often available in supermarkets etc, but over winter you'll probably need to order online as bbq is seen as purely a summer activity here.

Welcome

I'm from the Bicester area also. I tend to go to Walman's in Launton. Meatmasters in oxford is cheap. If you can get a makro card, meats not bad price from there also. I tend to use lumpwood from sainsbury's. Out of season you can get restaurant grade online reasonably.
