Hi all!
Im a keen indoor cook, but I love my outdoor food aswell.
I have owned a superb Brinkmaster Smokin pit for nearly 20 years, Made of 12 gauge steel,but the poor buggers bottom fell out!
Probably down to me not clearing out spent charcoal which then got damp.

So Ive tried to find a suitable replacement. Not that simple I find!
Brinkmaster, as far as I can tell, have limited stockists in the Uk.

Costco, where I bought my original, have One Brinkmaster, but I dont think the quality is that good at all, and its not the smokon pit my parties are famous for!!!!!

But now, things have changed..the 20-30 people "PARTYING! " has subsided to a more, any more...6-7 more appreciative social collective, who appreciate finer foods...(gone are the burnt burgers!)

I love to bbq ribs, steaks, tikka and make fresh pizza, which I do quite well in the indoor oven with a pizza stone...but its not the same.

I was just going to buy a pizza oven, but then my smoke pit died.
So NOW i need a bbq/oven!
Im looking at a Kamado but wow..they are a expensive!

Any feed back to help me decide if I should take the plunge would be helpfull!

There's no denying that the ceramic grills are very good and reliable at keeping constant temp as a lot of chefs swear by them for their restaurant quality and endurance. But I just couldn't justify the money on a Komado Joe or a Green Egg.

I have looked at steel grills and to be honest most in the UK are made from inferior materials (very Thin Steel) and mods have to be made to try and get them up to scratch. The better ones are imported US models unless you get a custom one such as the excellent example by "BBQ Design" on here (5mm Steel)

I looked a Pizza ovens too and you can get good examples that are made in Portugal (I lived there and saw them made from brick and concrete) for around £450 but they are heavy ranging from 450KG (90cm) to 650KG (100 & 110 CM) and a lot of work for a Pizza! They are only 265 Euros to buy direct but shipping is 300!!!! The Jamie Oliver metal thing is in Costco too but again its more expensive than a Green Egg.

It depends on your budget and what you want to do. I have done loads of research so let me know and I might be able to point you in the right direction

I agree, some of the steel bbq`s available are just TAT. .....Thats why I looked for another Brinkmann, but even they seem to be be a poorer quality than my last one.

Thought of the ovens from Portugal, but I also need a bbq as well...so looking more and more like a ceramic grill

Still falling over with the prices though!

Some the pros use them on the BBQ circuit in the US but they are a lot cheaper there and are usually sponsored, its the shipping, import duties and VAT that buggers us

Webber Smokey Mountain get good reviews but for myself I built a couple of UDS one for Low and slow the other for cold smoking, got a decent Kettle (Napoleon Pro) with cast iron grates for grilling and if I can stretch to it I will I will get a GMG Daniel Boone. Same money as your egg but more of what you want.

My only downer on the BGE is that its a lot of money for a small cooking area.
