I guess height depends on how well it vents - if I can make it vent well then I'd like it quite low, so that it offers the best protection for bbq, diners etc.

I'm currently erring towards getting a gazebo as a stopgap, but we shall see...

Just bothered that if I was grilling I'd melt things. Can't wear metal belt buckles when firing it on full blast and that's under a leather apron.

I see your point.... I think the instances when I'll be grilling in the rain are far and few between compared to smokes that end up getting rained on, just due to the amount of time it takes. However, I would have thought that 5 feet above the grill would be enough....I hope!
