Pro Q Colder Smoker in Kamodo Joe Classic

Postby uncle albert » 06 Apr 2014, 23:39

Hello Gents

I'll be catching some salmon this year. Given the tremendous effort involved in catching them, I cannot afford any cock ups on cold smoking.

If I put a Pro Q cold smoker inside the KJ, will there be too much heat generated? I. E. Too thermally efficient. Therefore required to go down the fire box and ducting route?

Location will be in a garden 1000ft above sea level in Cairngorms, so ambient temp will be relatively low.....

If anyone has any amazing cures I would be delighted to know :)

Cheers

It works a treat - outside temperatures are more of the issue & if your KJ is in the sun. I have done smoked salmon using this method the past couple of Christmas eves.

Cheers Simon,
Excessive hot weather will never be a problem up there! Especially as the salmon run September and October mainly.
Thanks
James

Hot weather, no. But as you live in one of the most beautiful places on earth, I have no sympathy! Lol

On the one day per year when the sun shines and the midges are otherwise occupied. :)
