A bad day for British BBQ

Sad to say I am ashamed to be British, saw this link on a US BBQ web site, they were horrified at what was done.

You know what, the way he prepped the loin, it was probably nice. But boiling the ribs - wtf!

Gordon, if you're reading, you're an ass!

Some how I doubt Gordon will be too bothered by your disgust, especially given that even in the US it's still common practice and gets consistent results all be it different to slow cooked ribs. They did the same on ultimate BBQ. Maybe you could educate him via the IBQN at an event although I suspect he may punch you when you meet ;)

I'm sure with his millions in the bank Gordon wouldn't give a toss about my opinion on anything, let alone boiling ribs.

However if we did meet and as you suggest he punched me, I'd likely be the second person (after Marco Pierre White) to leave Gordon cowering and crying in a corner ;)

Sod the ticket, I'll hold your coat. Don't forget this is the "World Class Chef" who decided to rear Welsh Hill lambs by building "artificial hills" in his garden. He then ran out of grass, as did most of his friends. What did he do to the carcasses? He marinated them and seasoned them to "Enhance the flavour" :o   The whole point of buying Welsh Hill or York Moor or Exmoor or Marsh Lamb is for the natural flavour. I've had 3 Llanwenog lambs and 2 Hoggets and have never had to season them before or after cooking.

Ain't celebrity grand

That brought back memories from the Big Feastival when Jamie Oliver asked you about your apron (covered in fake blood) while filming and you said you had just killed Ramsey! He was speechless

What gets me with Ramsay is he puts across the hard man image, but when he yells at people he just sounds like a whiny little boy.

But yeah Jamie Oliver's reaction when I said we'd cut up Ramsay and had him in the WSM's is something that still makes me chuckle.

I really hope you meet him some day, I know you will be singing a different tune. Have some respect for people you never know what will happen in the future

I would like to meet Gordon Ramsay, im sure he has some interesting culinary views and undoubtedly has technical skills well beyond my own. But i have to add that you don't "know" anything about what tune I'd be singing, you've never met me or even spoken to me.

I have respect for plenty of people, that includes respect for what GR has achieved, equally I have every right to choose who I respect and admire for whatever reasons and who I don't. To me GR comes across as very fake, and one thing I can't stand is people who are fake. However, if I was to meet him and discover that I was wrong, I could accept that. Only having a public persona to consider, cannot lead one to forming a solid opinion either good or bad. It takes face time to do that but it is only natural to form some kind of opinion based on people's actions, attitudes and behaviour as far as is visible. Sadly some people seem unable to form their own opinions and tend to adopt the opinions of others without ever taking a balanced view.

What might happen in the future shouldn't bear any relevance to whether you respect someone unless you're the kind of person who's hedging their bets in case a beneficial relationship opportunity might occur. Personally I haven't ever, and won't ever be the kind of sycophant that will kiss up to someone just because they're famous (or think they are) and may present me with opportunity in the future, I prefer to be straight and honest.

I'm certainly not intimidated by anyone, whether they like to mouth off on TV or on the Internet or wherever.
