What are you cooking over the Christmas holiday period?

Hi BBQ people,

I am afraid to say Christmas day is only going to be a traditional roast, with no smoking involved, (Unless I let the wife cook)

New Year’s will however be a meat feast, It has grown form just a couple of guests to 15 + Kids.

2 pork Butts, 2 streaky wrapped fatties, Loads of wings and a large serving of BBQ Beans all served for about 21.00

Early morning and late night, sounds like the old days of competing in a field in Surrey

At the moment, I have nothing much planned. I am actually at a friend's for Christmas Day itself. I have bought myself a stuffed turkey leg for boxing day - which being stuffed, is going in the oven. I've had one of these legs (from Riverford) before, and they are great, with enough meat for 3 meals, or 2 if you're particularly hungry!

I have friends round on the 27th, and I am planning to go out at the last minute and see if I can pick up any bargains. If I can get a Turkey Crown, I may well have a go at that on the Traeger, for cold carving later, or I may do a brisket. Or I may forget the BBQ completely and do some conventional food. It depends how I feel, and what the last minute shop yields.

I'm then working on the 28th/29th, and then possibly at friends for the New Year - plans are still fluid. On the 28th/29th, I am manning the phones for the whole company single-handed, so I might just put my feet up with a beer and Jools Holland.

OK Smokey Toad, just what is a streaky wrapped fatty? Just a regular fatty wrapped with side bacon? Christmas for me this year will be a Personal Care Home turkey dinner with my 96 year old Mother. Wife gone to New Zealand. Home alone.

This year i'll be cooking both Turkey & beef as i've got a big crowd coming over and not everyone wanted turkey, and i means i get some nice left overs for a couple of days after.

I've already posted how i'm going to cook my turkey this year, with the beef i've got a rib of beef ordered and i'm just going do a salt and pepper rub with a bit of mustard as glue for the rub, not sure what wood to smoke with, i've still got some JD oak chuncks left over which i might give a try.

2 xturkeys(arriving tomorrow) to be smoked and 1 x apricot glazed ham. abt's, found the biggest jalapeno's on the planet 6" long wow
Just made some cranberry sauce with port,....getting excited now

New job has played havoc with my BBQing so I've really sucked at getting the time to light the smoker recently. I'm not home for Christmas so won't be doing a turkey this year for once.

However I'm planning to do some Q for new year and I'm hankering for a Jacob's ladder :D

Got a top bollock organic Turkey coming. I'm not really keen on turkey but everyone else wants one so it's going to go on the GMG. It'll get brined but other than that no plan as yet. Going to start scouring the net for a good recipe. I anyone has a tried and tested method let me know.

The pork necks sound interesting tell me more (when you've rested your carving arm) :D
