Over the last few months my 14 year old son has been encountering some difficulties with his "attention" at school (This must be genetic). Anyway I made a deal that if he picked up his grades and his next report was a marked improvement I would bestow upon him the baby 47cm WSM I have.
Well, true to his word his results came through and they were indeed a marked improvement with some great comments from the teaching staff, likewise I kept my word and last week I handed down my prized WSM which was a present from my wife many years ago.
He has been readying himself for his cook, he has chose bank holiday ribs (Ones from Costco as he doesn't to waste any money if it were to go wrong), he has liberated a blue bag of restaurant lump from my stash, cleaned and prepped his smoker, refoiling the water pan and clay saucer.
Now he has spent the last 3 years on the BBBQS competition circuit and at home through practice watching and helping and today is his first go for himself, so although today I won't actually be doing any cooking I have no doubt I will be having BBQ for lunch.
Good luck Jamie, you're not just a rub boy anymore!
