The sun was shining so brightly when driving just now I had to use my sunglasses AND double-speed windscreen wipers. We've had no rain for months so why have we fungus type growths on the garage wall?

I guess 'drought' is what the water companies call it. Personally, I call it incompetence on their behalf. Drought is what they have in Africa. We are obviously no where near that. They simply haven't invested enough to cope with the ups & downs of British weather or connecting the north with the south to manage supply & demand better. Yet they still make profits at the same time as restricting our usage of the water we are paying for. Bless 'em. [sorry, rant over]

I've got a buddy who is a former Thames Water employee and was in a fairly senior position there. He reckons that they waste more water through failures in the infrastructure than is consumed by all their customers combined.

This from a water conservancy website (I'm repeating the data not confirming or endorsing it .....jeez I waorked as a council liaison officer for too long )

"Water loss comes from two sources A UK government department puts losses through leakage of supply pipes (in England and Wales) @ 3.6 billion litres a day. According to The Independent a further 1.1bn is lost each day in Scotland. So... Through leakage in supply pipes 4.7billion litres are being lost each day..."

In 1976 (the hottest summer on record apparantly), whilst still a butcher one of our customers was an "aquiferic architect" (or something like that) he said plans had been drawn up at a cost of just under £2 billion, which would link every resovoir north, south, east & west with a fully fledged pumping system. Apparantly this would stop flooding and water shortages nationwide by shifting vast quantities of water at the touch of a button (well probably several buttons).

here in arizona it only rain 14 days if that much in a year you always need subglasses and a hat even in the winter,i forgot what rain sounds like when it falls on a roof!

So basically we get as many hot and sunny days as you get rainy ones
