Very accurate, reliable & also register the temperature quickly unlike cheaper alternatives which take an age to get to the true temperature. Think Steve is sponsored by these guys. You can sometimes get a good discount on re-conditioned ones on ebay directly from ETI - you just might not get as wide a choice of colour

If you want some kind of remote thermometer i.e. a sending / receiving unit with temperature probes that stay on the grill & in the meat, then Maverick (
http://www.maverickhousewares.com/et732.htm) seems to be the go-to product. I bought the older model (ET73) as I saw some discussion about the new probes dying a lot - and it is a little cheaper.
I bought both of these on the recommendation of people on this site so I expect them to work well as these guys have loads of experience using them.
