BBQ Boot Camp - New Members

Hi all,

Over the last few weeks we have had an influx of new members. I wondered if it would be worth asking if anyone would be interested in a "Pre-season" BBQ Boot Camp?

The idea would be to have an early event perhaps end of March early April with a view to showing a few techniques, introducing new rubs and equipment, sharing knowledge learned from the US comps all with enough time for new members to go away and have practice, ask questions, import their own rubs n sauces, thermometers and still be able to feel confident and on top of their game for our third season.

If you are interested it let me know what you think to the idea.

As this stage it is just an "idea" I would envisage this being a single night i.e arrive around 18:00 ish or later, prep some meat, fire up some smokers, cook it over night and do the whole presentation thing.

Thoughts welcome especially Toby's (Looking for a venue (nudge nudge))

If you want some of the established teams to help tutor the new members I'm happy to help out. I know we'd all like to see Jackie doing prep and cooking but I'm sure other people's techniques are worth seeing to. I'd like to see how other guys do things in contrast to me. Would be nice if we had maybe 3 or 4 teams doing each category alongside each other.

Another point, I think all of us competitors should chuck a little cash in the pot to cover the expenses too.

I would certainly be interested. As it happens, I'll be spending the first 3 weeks of March in the States, although I will be mostly based at San Franscisco, which doesn't strike me as BBQ country (although I'd be delighted to be corrected!). However, I expect to be coming back with some goodies.
