Charcoal in the Berkshire area?

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked before, but is there a charcoal producer/supplier near to Reading?

I've seen BigK deliver but it seems quite expensive once you add on the £10 delivery charge and I don't have the space to store a massive pallet :D

There used to be a place out in Bramley made it (just over the crossing, turn right) Could be worth checking out though this was a couple of years ago I saw it.

There is a decent BBQ shop in Bagshot (in one of the garden centres off the A322). http://www.thebbqshop.co.uk/

I am a fan of Heat beads and although not the cheapest I find that they give a much more predictable burn and slower as well. Generally speaking, a full basket in my 47" WSM will give me enough for an overnight cook (even in the snow) and still have anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 of a basket left once I clean it out to start the next cook with. I order mine from Toby through SAYSAUSAGES (link above).

Wasn't there something about picking up from guildford on that? I've started using them for slow but they're quite expensive out of The Range.

I have a few bags left Badgerade & hope to make more charcoal over Easter weather permitting.

I'm about 40 mins from Reading (20 from M4 j13 Newbury) & have a variety of woods for smoking :
