So...I got the absolute longest and most stable burn from my WSM this weekend...using Supagrill briquettes from the garage forecourt!!!
They were all I could find in a rush for a last minute chicken n' ribs session...and is probably the most consistent experience I have had to date...including using Big K (briquettes and lumpwood) and weber briquettes - I am yet to get my mitts on any heatbeads...
Ribs for 5 hours in the 235-260 region - then ramped up to just over 300 for an hour and a half for the chook...wsm responded perfectly to the vents and is probably the hottest I have managed to get the beast for any consistent period of time.
I bought the supagrill with a fair degree of trepidation (coming from asda garage forecourt and all), but found it to be really ace for what I needed. Minimal smoke on lighting in my chimney starter as well, popping it on a gas burner to start as opposed to using paper.
What do you guys think? Anyone had good/bad/indifferent experiences with supagrill briquettes??
