Any advice on where the best place would be to get a BGE as I want to buy an XL with most of the extra's and there is only one place near me which is a little on the expensive end. Happy to travel or go online.

Yeah I have and like the way you can split the set up to do indirect and direct on the same cook - I want to actually see one before I buy though and there is nowhere near me that sell them.

I also like the contained ash box in the new model.

I have used both and I've never regretted my BGE purchase, the build quality on the egg in my opinion is superior to the Joe, that said however the divide and conquer cooking system is fantastic, I built my own version for the BGE long before Kamado released it as it wasn't an option when I bought my ceramic a couple of years ago. It does add a level of flexibility that you can't buy as a BGE accessory but you can buy it and it will fit in the Egg. I've bought quite a few of the genuine accessories and the only ones I'd recommend buying are Plate Setter, CI Grill Grates and the Pizza Stone, the half moon raised grid is OK but not essential.

Either way you'll be fine but the divide and conquer system makes ANY ceramic cooker unbeatable

Still looking at the BGE XL but need to be able to move it around as not in the luxurious position to set up a table and just leave it. I have a stone patio with the groves you get between the stones and am concerned about moving the Q around on the trolley - how sturdy are they? and I guess how heavy are they to move around?

The handler is excellent for moving the Egg. My garden is similar, I have block paving so loads of gaps to negotiate. As long as you always pull the Egg by the nest handle and work out the route before setting off you will be fine, it's the one single feature of the Egg that beats the Joe hands down

Eggcellent ( sorry). I found a garden centre in Hook that had the XL on show and was amazed by the size of the thing but will still be getting it at the end of the month.
