TV show on Backyard BBQ Geniuses

Postby njh82 » 10 Nov 2014, 15:07

Hello

I am a TV Producer currently researching for a potential new Channel 4 series on BBQing and the hidden amazing creations in people's backyards. We are looking to find people truly passionate about perfecting the BBQ or making it the most fun it can be. If you think you may be interested in featuring in the show please email Naomi.harvey@plimsollproductions.com. Or if you have any suggestions of what you would love to see included- please do add your thoughts to the thread

Thanks

Hello and welcome, this sounds like a great idea, be good to show the British public what BBQ is about especially on main stream TV. I'm sure there will be a long queue of people on hear wanting to helps Toby Shea will likely be at the front of the queue, I'd suggest you contact him directly

Amongst others SwindonEd would be another good contact

What timeline are you thinking? Are you filming over the winter?

Hi Guys

Thanks for coming back so quickly- timeline would probably over spring/summer 2015 as this is in early stages of development and so these things take time. Plus it would seem- from the brief research I have done - that the extreme BBQ invention scene doesn't really exist in the uk- yet! Its more of a US thing...however, we are looking into whether if we created a competition for the show, people would be interested in getting their creative caps on and going all out !

If you can pull it off, it sounds like a great idea and it would certainly put competition BBQ on the map in the UK. Toby is the man to speak to. Sort of like the great British Bake off has done for baking, but for BBQ

Hi
This sounds like a fantastic idea, lots of us members on here make our own smoking and bbq contraptions.
I myself have made all my cookers from other peoples scrap there are pictures and articles on my Simon Dyer facebook page and my Cyderpig Q4U facebook page if you would like to view them.

Cheers

I agree with what others have said - this sounds great! I have built a couple of basic smokers rather than paying for the commercial equivalent but I soon caught the tinkering bug and took a welding course this year with the intention of building something a bit more impressive when I have time.

Would love to see what others have been up to. A build competition would be very interesting!

Si, you already have TV experience having being on Dine With Me - you sound like an idea candidate for any potential show :D
