Hi all,
As I've said before, I'm currently in the process of designing a new barbecue as part of the requirements for my final year of university (have a look at viewtopic.php?f=8&t=545 for background information).
I'm wondering whether there are any wheelchair using barbecuers on this forum / friends and family of wheelchair users, and whether I could pick your brains?
How do you find the current designs of barbecues in terms of accessibility and ease of use? Are there any glaringly obvious problems that you've experienced with your current equipment? What sort of posture do you adopt to use your equipment (specifically, do you try to sit at the barbecue like a desk, or do you sit parallel to the barbecue and reach sideways to the grill?) Is this type of posture ideal, or would you prefer to be able to use the equipment in a different way? Do you find the grill height comfortable, or would it be more comfortable to cook at a higher / lower height?
My current proposal incorporates height adjustability to accommodate a range of users of different standing heights, but if it's feasible I'd like to be able to include sufficient adjustability to include differently-abled users as well.
Thanks for any input people may be able to give.
