Good luck with your event, I'm sure you both will be fine. Just consider it as one of your BBQs for your friends.

Eddie.

A note from our sponsors

Alexander Rose staff were treated with a BBQ feast for lunch last Friday by our friends and local BBQ pit team Bare 'N' Blue, they compete throughout the year in various UK based competitions. A hungry crowd looked on as food was revealed from a BBQ with several tiers of finger licking goodness. The food was full of flavour and spice, some say too much spice as a few where hunting for some water! The culprit was the A.B.T's or Atomic Buffalo Turds, which quite honestly looked like 'turds' but tasted incredible. A simple recipe with maximum impact, half a jalapeno stuffed with crème fraiche and sausage, finished off with a wrap of bacon and a special rub containing 'secret' herbs and spices.

All the food was prepared especially for Alexander Rose and we were treated to some BBQ specialties by Lee and Clair, the "2 Beer-Can Chickens" were revealed from the grill with a can of Fosters and Budweiser inserted up what can only be described as, their bottoms. However the chicken was cooked to perfection, tender and flavoursome, with a certain taste of Australia and America! The chickens were served with homemade jalapeno coleslaw and homemade BBQ sauce, along with the now infamous A.B.T's. A final serving of chicken thighs rubbed with a 'special/secret rub recipe' sealed the lunch, the flavours stayed on the tongue for the rest of the afternoon!

The lunch provided the opportunity for many to see real BBQ food, not your typical burnt bangers and burgers approach cooked on gas grills in a few minutes. Bare 'N' Blue's approach to BBQ food is 'Low & Slow' cooking on wood and charcoal, the woods used on Friday were Ash and Oak. The technique of low and slow enables the smoke and heat to lock in the flavours whilst cooking, resulting in tender meat full of real BBQ tastes.

A special thanks to Lee and Clair for providing such a wonderful insight into real BBQ'ing with their delicious food, if you would like to know more about them visit their facebook page BareNBlue. We heard their running a competition to get 100 'Likes' the winner will be in for a treat no doubt! If you are interested in the British BBQ Society visit their website, the overall winner in the UK wins a place at the Jack Daniels Invitational, Lynchburg, Tennessee in 2012! Good luck Bare 'N' Blue!

thanks Scot/John - we were a little nervous feeding 30 hungry people - but as soon as they started tucking in, it became apparent we had made some new low n slow fans! ;)
