California

Miss Piggy's are planning a trip to California. Woohoo! If anyone has been before and has any tips or recommended sightseeing please let me know. We aim to go at easter and take in a competition whilst we are there. We have found the competition we want to enter in Wildomar (not far from LA where we will be based). I have been in contact with a few people over there who have been extremely helpful. One in particular, Benny, has very kindly offered to lend us his entire cook set up including 3 wsm's stoker controlled! Benny was part of Harry Soo's team Slap Yo Daddy for 1 1/2 years and helped win 15 GC's in that time so we are made up to have help of such a high calibre! So excited now already ...just wanted to share with you lot :D

San Fran beats LA [armpit of the universe] hands down though San Diego is a must....and whilst you're there a little jaunt over the border to Tijuana can be an eye opener

That's what I wanted to do John, but everyone on the California BBQ forum has said it can be a bit risky?

I suspect it's like a lot of other places it depends on which part of town you are in, e.g. getting off the train at King's Cross in London hardly prepares you for the Tower of London. I daresay you'll have a great time..................

I have to agree with John ref LA and San Francisco, if you want to see at the states, years ago i took the Amtrak from LA to San Fran, not sure if they still have the observation cars but was a relaxing time, takes a while so worth breaking your trip and stopping somewhere like Carmel http://www.carmelcalifornia.com/ which is a great little town. If you have the time to get to San Fran would def recommend it.

i stayed in LA with friends, think it was venice beach, and obviously did the sites but i dont think I would choose to holiday there.

Doesn't that make you want to go even more?

Right in LA, the La Brea Tar Pits are very interesting.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Brea_Tar_Pits

Right next door is the Los Angeles County Museum of Art http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Brea_Tar_Pits

Practically across the street is the very interesting Petersen Automotive Museum http://www.petersen.org/
