I was looking into combining vending with small diggs for comps and other events, thought about a horsebox because of the loading ramp, alot easier to wheel the FEC's in and out. Also generally they are low to the ground, wouldnt have any weight issues (normally reduced to 5 tonne). Main problem with any vehicle like this at the moment are the new emissions restrictions that are hitting the major cities this year. If they arent Euro 4 (or something like that) you could get stung for £250 per visit!!!

Sure that would be fine but havent looked into the legislation, made the decision for 2012 to sell the sprinter and just hire a bigger vehicle for the events. Will save a considerable amount over the year. Only have my eye on one major catering gig this year which will require heavy investment of equipment from the US and need its own flatbed.

With the mileage and condition it will be around 4.5K, may just whack it on ebay

Maybe this is heresy but would a Bradley be a good alternative to a standard/non standard smoker as it provides consistant temps and probably produces consistent outcomes if you want to cater?

Nothing wrong with Bradley smokers, for catering they would be fine but need a continuous power source and I am not too sure on the capacity.

Just got a Bradley digital 6 rack and over the moon with it. I wouldn't be happy vending from it though. Although the flavor is good I find it dries the food out slightly. The capacity isnt huge either and cooking times are longer than the Pro Q I normally use.
However, I didn't have it to cater for just for messing around in my cellar on rainy days.

Absolutely, properly ventilated too. It is the only area I can keep all the spices, rubs and additional equipment I seem to have attracted!

It still just looks like a burger van though. I think if your going to promote American style BBQ then you need an American style van! Could you not convert something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-Fresh-Im ... 1537wt_937

They're pretty cheap to buy but use a bit of fuel.

Decided to comit today and have designed a trailer with our fabricator. It is pretty much suck it and see but the experimentation should be fun!
