Hello from East Anglia

Postby Lewis » 13 Feb 2013, 11:22

Hi everyone,

A bit about me;

28 year old male who got out of the Army last year. During that time I was in Afghanistan attached to the Ghurkas and had the honour of trying many of their culinary delights. They used to cook every night even though we were in the middle of nowhere with no supplies. They would break up pallets and get a big pot on making some new curry I had never heard of, or they would have bartered with the locals for a chicken or two and have it roasting on some home made spit.:mrgreen:

Anyway, that's what got me into cooking and BBQing especially, so I thought I would sign up and get involved in the British BBQ front!

If you want to know anything just ask.

Regards,

Lewis

Welcome - and a brilliant introduction to cooking outside I reckon..... lol

What are you cooking on / aiming to cook on back in Blighty....? Or are you going to replicate the open pit experience?!

Cheers,

Simon

I don't think the missus would appreciate me digging up the back garden :cry: so I need to invest in a decent bit of kit.

In the past at family BBQs we have used the in-laws kit which is an electric rotisserie with side racks for the charcoal so the fat drips onto a plate (or a piece of bread I may have placed there ) and it is heated on both sides.

I don't think it is the type of it I want to invest in, I am looking at something a bit more traditional at the moment.

Lewis welcome indeed and if you were happily eating Ghurka curries mucho admiration for your taste-buds ;).
Ask anything you like someone will either know the answer or know where you could find it.
