Hello from Last of the Summer Swine

Postby Howie77 » 09 Jan 2014, 21:58

Hi All,

Got into smoking last year when one of my colleagues started wanging on about it on the train home every night. Eventually he convinced me that the best way to get involved was to compete at Grillstock. So around about March I bought a Weber kettle and started to have a tinker with some pretty mixed results. Fortunately for all concerned Jamie (the colleague) knew what he was doing and we did OK.

Totally hooked now. Got myself a discounted ProQ at the festival (lot easier than a kettle) and haven't looked back. I have been scanning this forum for loads of great advice for a while but have only just gotten round to introducing myself.

So um, hello!

Glad it worked, although IMHO your mate's idea about learning how to low and slow by jumping into a major international competition equates to learning to drive on a Formula One track day ;) :D
Glad it worked out for you.

Welcome to the forum! if you are interested in a good comp grounding then have a think about our grassroots comps that we run. As much a social as a competition so lots of fun!

We have committed to Bristol Grillstock again this year, any additional dates will be hard won with the other half but I will have a longing look at the events pages anyway...

If not I will see in Bristol
