Jamie & Jimmy's Friday Night Feast

Postby DJBenz » 03 Feb 2014, 11:40

Caught the tail-end of this on Friday night and the preview for next week's show said that Jimmy was going to build a DIY smoker. From the brief footage they showed, it looks like he's using two oak barrels stacked on top of each other, rather than a steel drum.

Anyway, may be of interest to the BBQ aficionados here. Friday night, 8pm, Channel 4. :)

I see that aswell

looked massive and had a tumble dryer plastic vent thing as an exhaust, well looked like it

Be interesting to see how much it cost him, it was a barrel sitting on top of another barrel. He's a pig farmer so i'm sure they'll be some pork going in there

Well it was a bit of a let-down TBH, as it turned out he was only building a cold smoker out of the barrels and showing a quick way to infuse already cooked chicken with herb infused smoke on a regular BBQ.

The piece lasted all of two minutes. :(

Yeah I'm really glad I watched it on Tivo. Jamie Oliver winds me up, so at least I didn't have to sit through 45 minutes of him to watch a two minute piece that gave me nothing!

As to cost, the cheapest I could find watertight (aka smoketight-ish) oak barrels was £69 each plus delivery!!!!!
Think I'll put that into the same category as his Doner kebab cooker...
