Give me shelter

Postby JBBQ » 14 Jul 2014, 09:21

Previously I had protected my electronics with a golf umbrella clamp but that all felt very temporary! Got to making this after seeing a more permanent model from a member on here.

It stays flat on the wall by the deck when BBQ is not in use (actually kinda nice wall art?)

Up and shielding, need better "legs" long term!

That's a great shelter and I like the design! I reckon it could make a good al fresco dart board as well? :)

A very handy bit of shelter for the garden! I started my first pork shoulder in the rain yesterday and can see it being a common feature in Manchester

Nice, I was thinking of something similar, but with sides that fold out to for a bit of wind protection.

There is room for side additions with this design :D It is basically a length of wood on the wall, with hinges to the roof, which means the roof can sit an inch or two off the wall.

Nice job. I was going to build a small roof to protect my smoker, but the wood was going to cost more than the BBQ equipment! Settled on putting it in the shed to keep it dry.

Good Job!

Being against the wall when not in use also reduces the amount of bird poo landing on it! :D

You can't beat the rustic shingles!

How heavy is it? my roof was quite a weight, but it did have a wooden shell underneath it.
Is it quite easy to lift up? This is a great idea.

It is pretty heavy but nothing I can't handle! It is supported on one end by the wall so you're not lifting the full weight.
