Gents, does anyone have a recipe and method for BBQ beans? I've only tried them once, and would like to try making them

Personally, if I were to make them, i'd use pinto beans, a smoked ham hock (not easy to find, but worth it), bacon, tomatoes, brown sugar, and an assortment of spices. All cooked in a cast iron dutch oven over an open fire.

I did some super simple but good beans over the weekend. A whole tin of heinz baked beans, chopped jalapeno and some diced mushrooms to pad it out a bit, smoked for about 2 hours alongside some ribs until they're almost totally dry. A few hours later, poured in some of the juice/fat from the foiled ribs, gave it a stir and put the beans back on for half an hour or so to reheat them.

I've been making them a fair bit recently and totally cheating by using Heinz -

6 rashers of bacon
1 white onion
2 tins of baked beans
2-3 tbsp molasses
1 tbsp of your rub of choice
A few tbsp BBQ sauce

Chop and fry the bacon then add finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Add your beans and all the other ingredients then place in the smoker for a couple of hours at least, stirring every half an hour to make sure they take on plenty of smoke. I've been using a cast iron dutch oven for cooking them in

Sounds heaven. I had them in Kentucky years ago and they were amazing had bits of pulled pork or ribs in. Gagging to make them myself when I finally get the smoker going properly.
