Newbie from York

Postby Rick101 » 07 Aug 2014, 20:26

Hello all,

I've browsed a couple of times but thought I'd register and become more active.

I started BBQing properly when I purchased a 57cm Weber Kettle about 2 years ago. I got a lot of info from Amazing Ribs and a couple of FB groups I'm also on.

Went to Grillstock Manchester this year and wife and myself also attended a day at Weber Grill Academy. Was great fun.

Met up with Ian Mack at Grillstock and he convinced me to buy a Pro Q. Had it a few weeks now and seems to be a good purchase. I've also recently invested in a Maverick 733 thermometer.

Hope to exchange some recipes soon. I've not tried brisket yet but I'm keen to do so.

Tried to add some photo's but page showing need to be less than 600pixels. Bit confused as I'm only writing in a photobucket link, not an actual image. Not sure how to rectify this?? :?
Edit - Have read the rules and the post about adding photo's but still can't work out how to do it. How do you 'check mark' a photo?

Cheers :D

Nice to have another Northerner, Yorkshire especially :D

Most the BBQ stuff I see if based darn sarf. Not sure why? Us Yorkshire folk invented fire.

Hey Rick101, welcome to the forum :) I'm also from York, I joined the forum a few months ago and have found it an incredibly useful resource. And, like you, I also have a ProQ and Weber Kettle. I love my Excel. In fact, I think that this weekend I'll be doing another shoulder on it :)

Hey Rick :)

Sounds great. Have you made good use of the weather this summer? I haven't smoked as much as I was hoping for, but we have an 11 month old in the house so sometimes things don't always go to plan. I'm looking forward to teaching him all sorts of BBQ tricks and tips when he's growing up though :)
