Charcoal clearance bargains

Postby PeteW » 26 Aug 2014, 20:48

What with the last week of August looking like it's not going to be non-stop rain, it seems like some of the big retailers are trying to shift their remaining summer charcoal supplies. Anyone spotted any good bargains?

I noticed Sainsburys had their charcoal on buy one get one half price, which didn't seem worth bothering with.
B&Q on the other hand have 7kg bags of Diall briquettes and lumpwood reduced to £3 and £4 respectively. So I filled a trolley for £30. Not sure how good it is, but should hopefully do the job.

Let us know if anyone else spots any other deals.

I looked at the dial stuff in b&q but what I saw was easy lighting so didn't bother.

I'm waiting for sainsbury stuff to come down. They have lump and coals.

Just been in local b&q, saw lumpwood 7kg bags down to £4. Also saw a 'Mr Burrough' had bought a 5 foot high pallet of instant lightening charcoal, picking up tomorrow hopefully for guy fawkes night!

I went back in to b&q last night. I thought even if it is instant lighting I can use it to grill or in the chimney starter. Turns out they had put the non easy light upside down so hadn't seen it. 6 bags 42kg for £18. Happy days!

I just got 56kg of briquettes from Lidl for £16 - they're doing 2 x 7kg bags for £4. I've used it a few times before and it works ok; I know how much heat I get from a chimney.

I phoned B&Q Reading, asked if they had non instant light stuff on sale, "YES" was my reply, drove light a maniac only to find out it was all instant light, all i can say is I wish I knew who took my call, absolute moron. Kinda what you get speaking to people from B&Q in my experience.
