UDS Chimney

Postby scuba-doo » 19 Oct 2014, 07:01

Hey Guys
I have built myself a shelter so I can use my UDS and grill in any weather but want to fit the UDS with a chimney so the smoke is above my face height, say 3ft tall. At the moment it has the flat lid and I'm using the bung hole as the exhaust with no pipe which is fine when its out in the open air. Do you know if this will cause any problems

Other than making the lid difficult to handle it should be fine. You may be better off to put the bung back in the lid and make a new hole in the side near the top and create a new chimney with some pipe and an elbow

Thanks for getting back. I was thinking of that as an option but wasn't sure if it would mean the smoke wouldn't clear very quickly.

I have vents on the side of my uds lid but have changed it to the centre as I wondered if all the heat was going straight up and out. I feel that a central chimney will draw the smoke and heat over the meat more. Not tried it yet mond you.
