Hello

Hi all,

New boy here, based in the great town that is Minehead.

Having been a keen BBQ'er for years and being a fan of 'low and slow' (only in the oven though) I have taken the plunge and decided to design and build my own Reverse Flow Offset Smoker:

Should be up and running within a couple of weeks.

As I have taken a great deal of advice and info from our cousins across the pond and used their calculators, it is a metricated 30" long smoker and would be 20" in diameter if round. All constructed from 6mm plate, so should last a while!
I've even added a top lid to the firebox which will have a removeable grate that goes in its' place should I want to sear off a couple of steaks while the brisket slow cooks. I will try and get some pics during the build and post them.

I pretty much have my BBQ sauce sorted after 6 years of trials and my rub is fantastic (even though I say it myself). Once I get the 'bark' sorted in this smoker, I will be a very happy chappy.

Can't wait to get loads of help and feedback from this forum and hopefully impart some myself.

Happy cooking.

Hi Ash (pun?)

Impressed mate! would love to see some pics. You welding yourself or got someone doing it?

Got any drawings as I have a mate in engineering who manufactures gates so it would be right up his street to attempt one for me.

Hi, thanks for the reply and no pun intended (didn't even think about that!).

All welding/fabricating done by my own hand.

Have uploaded photos taken during the build and a video of a test smoke (with a piece of paper) to see how she would draw (and she did great).

First coat of paint went on yesterday and she should be ready ready for the first cook this weekend, assuming the weather will be favourable.

Once I know it works ok, I should be able to sort some drawings.

Cheers

Hi Brian,

Out of interest, who is your mate? My main business is also making gates, hence having all the necessary gear.

Cheers
