triple D - diners, drives and dine-ins

Anyone watch this program, I taped an episode last night about pit BBQ, got a few recipes from it, but I'm sceptical, can't see people give away their prized rubs and recipes. :o

Anyone tried recipes from the show?

I've watched DDD for a while now and have seen people talk about what's in the recipe but they never give the exact amounts.

I did see one where the guy from Smoque in Chicago talked about what was in his Brisket rub but they use such large amounts in each batch it's difficult to make a replica.

I've also been watching Guy's big bite and one episode he had a BBQ chef from down south giving away his pork butt sauce, not tried it yet but will be giving it a go next weekend and will let you know if it's any good.

I must admit to having pulled a few rubs and sauces from the show, although you will never get it 100% it is a great place to get an idea of bases that you can then develop.

it was watching Triple D that got us into the whole smoking bbq - they always seem to hold back their "special ingredient" :D

Any of the episodes I watched on smoking there wasn't any herbs used, seemed to be all spices and sugars

I checked my Sky+ box this morning and I had 3% left...it was all DDD, some Inbetweeners, some Bottom and some Young Ones.....DDD taking up the most space!

So, going through all the DDD's...a fair few of them were about Q, but none of them gave away any 'secrets'...all I could gauge from the shows were that the 'secret' rub contained about 80% sugar - C-R-A-Z-Y!!!
(But, I'm sweet enough!)
And then fried some smoked chicken (Which SwindonEd and I have chatted about before)

But for me, this is food porn, this is looking at how other people do things - like the guy who did some thick ribs with a turmeric based rub and cooked them for three hours....I'm not saying that that isn't right - it's a different way!

But, the Dude who made the Jalapeno Sausage in the corn husks....where in the UK can I get corn husks!!!! :)
