Volcanic ash.........

Postby markd » 24 May 2011, 10:03

It's messing with my life AGAIN!! Our family holiday was cancelled last year because of it, were going on holiday in 4 weeks time so the potential for disruption/cancellation looms again and now I've had a delivery from UPS cancelled today because, wait for it............ 'A Natural Disaster' go on guess what that is.
Question: How does volcanic ash stop a delivery from England to Scotland  even after I've factored in the vast distances involved and the number of river crossings required (utilising the pre constructed bridges) then of course the border crossings (county and country) I still end up shaking my head as to the declaration of an NATURAL DISASTER.
Rant over, not pleased.

Raw Mark, sympathies about your hols, but transport from Scotland to England will only be effected by plane. Your package was possibly due to travel by plane, you should get it in time. :)

Yep, it's cheaper, logistics wise, to fly X amount of packages from England to Scotland than trunk the same packages via artics and hub locations.
