Royal Q New Website

Postby Steve » 04 Apr 2010, 22:14

I've just launched a new website for my team at http://www.royalqpitcrew.com I'd welcome any feedback.

There's still a fair bit of content to come, reports form this year's events and a selection of recipes will all arrive in time.

We've also got a blog where we'll post details of our exploits and of course, real time reports and pictures from this year's BBBQS competitions.

The last thing worth mentioning is that we've opened a merchandise shop in conjunction with cafepress.com. The idea behind this is to work as an alternative to sponsorship, we make a small percentage on everything that sells and we will plough every penny back into the team. We've tried to have fun with the designs with a few BBQ-related jokes.

I hope anyone who looks at the site enjoys it and please check back with it regularly as we will try to update it often.

Nice site. Looking forward to you sharing recipe secrets ;)

Are you making any progress attracting sponsors? I remember looking a while back at your old web site and you were looking for sponsors then.

Sponsorship is not easy for a relatively new team to get at the moment.

We've got one sponsor lined up. They've agreed verbally but we've not got anything in writing yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they do come up with what they've promised.

I've done a fair bit of chasing around but as yet nothing has worked out. I think with a few seasons under our belts and as the society grows it'll get easier for teams to get sponsorship.

Ref. recipes, as and when I get time to write them up in HTML, I'll add recipes, I'm a believer in sharing everything.

Hi Andy,

Are you involved in organising Grillstock then? I ask because I wonder who told you that I'd been enquiring about it.

I've not had details of the competition back yet, but it's looking less likley I'll be able to compete because I'm committed to the BBBQS national final the following week and I don't think the rest of the team are up for competing on two consecutive weekends. I don't fancy doing a whole competition on my own. If I'd known about it earlier I'd have had more time to work on the guys to pursuade them to do both.

I hope Grillstock is a success and maybe next year I'll be able to take a place. If you are friendly with the organiser then it might be an idea to suggest BBBQS sanctioning/affiliation for next year, it would be great if we could start to build the circuit to include some more competitions.

I'll probably still see you there as I'll come down as a visitor to check out the event anyway.

Hi Steve,

I have no affilciation with Grillstock other than a competitor in their contest and running a VIP Hospitality tent for our sponsors. When discussing the hospitality area I asked the question about team entries and your team was mentioned as a team interested in competing

Warmest regards,

Andy

Hey Andy, that's cool. I just wondered if you were involved in organising it. Mind you I guess it would have been in

So are you running hospitality for Weber then?

Either way it's going to be a busy weekend for you with the competition and running hospitality. Are you putting on some masterclasses as well?

Steve your right, its going to be busy! - but that's how we like it.

The hospitality tent is for the event sponsors, our personal sponsors, PR agencies, event media, press, special guests and evening event party. We will be preparing food throught the weekend for the peoples choice judging, the main contest and demonstrations. We also need to make sure that there's enough time for beer drinking too!!!

It seems like there's lots going on, especially for their first event.

Yes you're right, there does seem to be a lot going on. Let's hope the organisers can cope with such a hectic schedule.

I hope you'll still be able to make the BBBQS competition the week after, I suspect Toby has something special up his sleeve for it but he's keeping very quiet for now. If we get the weather as well we might have a real BBQ Summer this year!!!
