No camping no competing for me.

Edit: also, no blind judging no competing either. I just don't like the format, and lets face it after the Sunday at Grillstock

Until the following year. BBBQS have at least two comps left :D

I still want to compete in Grillstock so hopefully nothing else will clash, as i really fancy taking on the restaurants.

I know most people on here have an issue with not being able to camp, but how about if we were to put together a BBBQS team where each person in the team takes on a particular meat.

This would mean that people would only need to be there on individual days and also get the society more publicity.

Yet again I'm being vocal on this format and I apologise in advance to those that have heard and yawned at me on this.

I have an issue with the Dog n Pony Judging, Especially where some teams have commercial interests. Call me cynical but I don't trust it, It could be easily interpreted that a win could be based on preference/politics of the team as opposed to the taste, tenderness and appearance.

Can you imagine to furore if a novice team wiped the floor with Bodeans for example?

As Myron Mixon says, "all is takes is one sorry ass judge that doesn't like you", plus when I have been so publicly outspoken about the format I think most of the judges would perhaps take a dislike to me and then be in a position to say "Well his entry was shite".

If the restaurants are so good why not blind judge? Where is the integrity in this style of judging?

The judging isn't blind, you present to the judges so it's said to be like a dog and pony show.

I think very much along the same lines as Adie, my reasons for not wanting to do Grillstock are the same. As I compete for pleasure only, I have no need to do events for self-promotion so will stick to the format I enjoy.

Some comps vary slightly but basically, you cook your food and the judges wander around your cook sites, and learn about the personalities the team presentations, best stands etc and then when it comes to turn in you take your food on your platters to the Judges, they know who's food they are judging.

Posted after Steve's response sorry.
